Record-Tying 5th Drivers World Championship Title Michael Schumacher

For The Record

Michael Schumacher's third consecutive Drivers title with Ferrari tied Juan Manuel Fangio's record five titles. With six rounds left in the season this is the biggest victory margin in Formula 1 history.

Williams' Juan Pablo Montoya claimed his sixth pole position of the season, the fifth in succession with no victory.

Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella were not able to participate in the race after an accident during the final practice before qualifying.

Both Arrows drivers intentionally recorded qualifying times outside the 107% limit to miss the race due to the team's current financial woes.
